How to Choose Between Lifeline Providers

There are four approved Lifeline providers in your area that offer the federal Lifeline wireless phone service discounts. You can find providers in your state by using this map. Below we will show you the differences in what is available from each provider.

 Access Wireless

At Access Wireless you get 750 minutes per month, unlimited text message and 500MB of data with their free option. This provider also offers a reward program so that rewards can be earned from shopping at the Kroger family of stores.

Assurance Wireless

At Assurance Wireless the free Lifeline service includes 350 minutes per month, unlimited texts and 500MB of data. If you are interested in plans other than their free offering, the $15 plan includes unlimited minutes, text and 1GB of data. The $20 plan includes unlimited minutes, text and 1.5GB of data. If you need additional data, for $30 a month you can get 4.5GB of data or for $40 you can get 10.5GB of data.

Safelink

At Safelink the free Lifeline option includes 350 minutes per month, unlimited texts and 1GB of data. If you need to upgrade your plan, you can add another 1GB for $15 a month, 2GB for $20 a month, 4GB for $30 a month or unlimited data for $40 a month.

Why Choose MobileNation as your Lifeline Provider?

With MobileNation Lifeline plans, your data resets every day instead of monthly. So, let’s say you are on the plan that includes 250MB for $10.75 a month.

The other Lifeline providers would set that as your cap for the entire month, but with MobileNation you can use up to that much daily. That’s over 7GB a month of data you have access to plus unlimited minutes and text!

So, not all unlimited plans are created equal. However, if you only need the talk and text option, you can get 750 minutes and unlimited texts for free if you qualify for Lifeline. You can see all of our plans here.

Unlike most Lifeline providers, at MobileNation we give you lots of options. We have convenient locations in Tennessee and Kentucky so you can apply for your Lifeline benefit in person or on our website. So with us, local customer service is only a phone call, short drive away or click. We let you choose. Also, while most service providers have one network, we provide service on multiple.

Plus, when you are with MobileNation you receive exclusive discounts to hundreds of online retailers. Just ask an associate for details when you sign up.

Can You Transfer Your Lifeline Benefit to MobileNation?

Under FCC rules, you can only enroll in a single Lifeline benefit per household. However, if you are receiving service from another provider and want to change your Lifeline benefit to MobileNation, it is easy to switch.

Once approved, you can even keep your phone number. After you apply with us, we can transfer your Lifeline service and you can begin to enjoy the benefits MobileNation provides.

So how do you switch your Lifeline benefit?

Let’s look at how.

Whether you are moving, are not happy with your current Lifeline service provider or are just looking for a plan that better fits your needs, switching Lifeline providers isn’t difficult.

Customers may transfer their Lifeline benefit to a new company once every sixty days for plans that are talk and text only and once every twelve months for plans that include data. Just visit the Universal Service Administration Company, website for all the details.

To get started, just contact the new company and ask them to initiate your transfer of benefits. They will need the following information to process the request:

• Name
• Date of birth
• Last four digits of your Social Security number
• Address
• Phone number
• Your consent

And, if you want to have more than one discounted line, MobileNation offers a service called ClearAssist. ClearAssist provides customers with discounted wireless phone service each month. Unlike Lifeline, ClearAssist is not a government-funded assistance plan. Rather, MobileNation solely funds the discounts.

If you would like to switch to MobileNation Lifeline, you will need to check if our service is available in your area by entering your zip code here. You can also visit one of our convenient retail locations in Tennessee or Kentucky.

MobileNation New Lifeline Plans Now Available

MobileNation Lifeline Plans now offer even more options for choosing your talk, text and data plan. That’s because we want you to get the most value for your money.

What’s New with the Lifeline plans?

You can now get 750 minutes and unlimited text for free if you qualify for one of our Lifeline plans. For only $10.75 a month, you can add 250MB of data per day and mobile hotspot to the plan.

Don’t forget, if you need more data, that we have two options for you to choose from that have 2GB a day available. That is up to 62GB of data a month! You can just decide on your budget and if national coverage or mobile hotspot is needed when choosing between our $20 and $25 Lifeline plan.

For those that do not know, Lifeline is a benefit offered by the government. The Universal Service Administrative Co. estimates more than 13 million people across the United States rely on Lifeline to communicate with family, friends, doctors, and jobs.

The Lifeline government assistance program began in 1985. The major reason it was designed, was to help low-income families who were struggling to get back on their feet.

MobileNation is a Lifeline provider for Tennessee and Kentucky. You must reside within MobileNation’s coverage area based on your home address. You can check to see if coverage is available within your area by entering your zip code.

Unlike most Lifeline providers, MobileNation has convenient retail locations in Tennessee and Kentucky. Just find a MobileNation location near you, and a helpful store associate will guide you through the application process. Just be sure and bring your required documents.

You can also create an application on our website. In just a few short minutes, you can have your Lifeline application complete.

Once you finish the application, MobileNation will verify your identity and make sure your household is not already receiving a Lifeline Program benefit. By law, the Lifeline program is only available for one line per household.

Why You Should Consider Certified Phones

Shopping for a new phone can be a daunting task that leaves many cell phone users willing to just keep their old phone. There are so many factors to consider: smart phone or feature phone, size of the screen, camera resolution…the list goes on and on. Though one of the most important questions many people don’t know to ask themselves is, “should I consider certified phones?”

For many lower income families, the expense of a cell phone is out of their budget. Lifeline provides discounted phone service and MobileNation is a provider for Tennessee and Kentucky. Lifeline’s goal is to make sure everyone has access to affordable communication services.

At MobileNation Lifeline, some of the phones we offer are certified. This means they have been thoroughly inspected and refurbished to like-new conditions. Just like with a certified used car, we can then offer the phone to our customers at substantial savings over a new model.

While there are many places you can buy refurbished phones, we have very high standards for our customers—most of the options you might find across the internet would not past our rigorous testing. You can see our current lineup of MobileNation Lifeline phones here.

So, what does “certified” mean?

Each phone we receive goes through a course of meticulous testing by skilled technicians and then, if necessary, is repaired, refaced, and/or updated with the most up-to-date software. Once this is completed, it is then tested again to make sure our customers are getting only the highest quality!

We test many things about the phone including alignment of hardware pieces, audio and sound quality, strength of connectivity, screen display, keypad, ports, battery power, visual cosmetic look, and more. After these tests, there is one final quality inspection to make sure it works and looks as good as it did coming off the assembly line.

Okay, but why do people buy these? It’s easier to just buy new, right?

Although this might seem like a long, difficult process, buying a certified phone is just as simple for the customer as buying a new one—the hardest part is deciding which model to get! So, what is the main reason value-conscious consumers are buying certified phones instead of new ones? One word: savings.

Savings sound great, but I haven’t heard great things about certified phones.

Well, there are quite a few common myths about certified phones out there. First, many people assume that buying refurbished is no different than simply buying used. You can probably buy a used phone relatively cheap through private-party selling sites, but they are not the same as a refurbished phone from a certified dealer.

Many times, someone will just delete their personal information from a phone and sell it as used. However, when a phone is refurbished, it goes through all the testing, repairs, and inspections mentioned previously.

Another myth about certified phones is that they are dirty. You may have thought, “You don’t know where that’s been!” But during our certification process, all phones are meticulously cleaned top to bottom, including inside speakers and ports.

Lastly, the myth that a certified phone is more likely to break couldn’t be further from the truth. In the world of fast-changing technology with rapid upgrades, we are led to believe by the bigger cell phone service providers that a phone is only good for about two year. However, most are designed with high quality hardware that lasts much longer than that!

In addition to this, phones are not refurbished if they are not in good condition to begin with. Many phones end up falling out during our inspection process for this very reason.

Conclusion

For the best deal on a quality phone, be sure to look at a certified phone. Our retail associates know these phones inside and out and will be happy to walk you through each phone to find the best one for your needs. Unlike most Lifeline providers, MobileNation has convenient retail locations in Tennessee and Kentucky. Just find a MobileNation location near you to find out more about Lifeline phones today.

Lifeline is a benefit the government offers. The Universal Service Administrative Co. states more than 13 million people across the United States rely on Lifeline. You can complete an application in just a few short minutes.

How to Find the Right Smartphone for your Budget with the Key Features you Need

The smartphone has become the leading device for keeping people connected to the world around them. And no, unlike the prices you will find at other companies, a smartphone doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg when you are on a budget.

Smartphones have become very easy-to-use, even for the first timer. Almost all offer one-click access to email, messaging, news, weather, turn-by-turn directions, photos, and access to your favorite social sites like Facebook.

At MobileNation, we provide affordable Lifeline phone options. You can see our current lineup of MobileNation Lifeline phones here.

Key Features to Consider

Screen Size
Since smartphones are used for various purposes, a big screen may be desired. Choose a smartphone with a large screen for a comfortable viewing experience. However, do remember that the larger the screen, the bigger the phone will be. Larger phones are harder to fit in your pocket as well as protect from breaking. The bigger they are, the harder they fall!

Camera
Since most of us are in the habit of going for a quick trip or outing, a smartphone with a camera and flash is a must. You never know when you can snap a happy memory that will last a lifetime! So, choose a smartphone with the right amount of MP (megapixels). Remember, the more MP, the clearer your photos will be. We suggest 2MP as the minimum for quality photos.

Internal memory size
A smartphone’s internal memory size is very important, because it will enable you to store photos, music, messages and videos. However, storing these in the internal memory will usually take up a lot of space and this is where the need for external memory storage arises. Make sure to choose a smartphone that has an external memory slot.

Smartphones…Decisions, Decisions

Still not sure which smartphone to choose? Our retail associates know these phones inside and out and will be happy to walk you through each phone to find the best one for your needs. Unlike most Lifeline providers, MobileNation has convenient retail locations in Tennessee and Kentucky. Just find a MobileNation location near you to find out more about Lifeline phones today.

So applying is super simple and that’s what makes MobileNation Lifeline so great. Whether you opt to apply online or in store, you’ll get an awesome experience with MobileNation.

Feature Phone vs Smartphone: How to Know Which Phone is For You

Although the tides of cell phone ownership officially changed in 2013 when smartphones officially passed feature phones worldwide for the first time, the benefits of feature phones are still in demand for many Lifeline phone shoppers. Additionally, we’ve found that many cell phone shoppers still ask themselves the question– feature phone or smartphone. Which is right for me?

Well, the good news is that MobileNation Lifeline has you covered. We provide affordable Lifeline phone options for those looking for feature phones and those looking for smartphones.

Lifeline is a benefit offered by the government. The Universal Service Administrative Co. states more than 13 million people across the United States rely on Lifeline. To see how to apply for MobileNation Lifeline or how you can qualify, take a look at this article.

There is a myth that the government gives away cellphones through Lifeline; however, this is false. The Lifeline program only subsidizes the services. You can see our current lineup of MobileNation Lifeline phones here.

This post presents the benefits of each to keep in mind when you make the decision that is best for your needs.

Feature Phones: What you should consider.

Although many people think that feature phones are a thing of the past, we find that these affordable and durable phones are still in demand as a functional way to stay connected. However, a feature phone can also be just right for those frugal shoppers who don’t need, or want, the abundance of functions offered on a smartphone.

Here are some of the main reasons why people consider and use feature phones:

Keep it simple.

At first glance, a minimal internet connection might seem like a negative; but for others, this is exactly what they need.

Durable.

Without those sensitive and easily damaged glass screens, feature phones tend to last a lot longer than fragile smartphones. This is the perfect solution for those who are prone to dropping their phone and do not want the added costs of replacing.

Battery life.

Still to this day, one of the main gripes about most smartphones are their short-lasting batteries. Typically, feature phones have much longer battery life than smartphones. This is because they aren’t busy running apps and browsing the internet all day, thus giving peace of mind in knowing that your phone likely has a good amount of battery and is available in emergency situations.

Inexpensive.

Last but certainly not least, feature phones are still loved by many today because of their affordability. If any of these benefits of feature phones sound ideal to you, then we recommend strongly considering one of our low-cost feature phones.

Smartphones: What you should consider.

The smartphone has become the leading device for keeping people connected to the world around them. And unlike the prices you will find at other companies, a smartphone doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg.

Here are some benefits of smartphones to consider before you decide to purchase:

Access to internet and the latest apps.

Today, staying in touch can mean many things beyond just call and text. For many circles, popular messaging apps like Facebook Messenger are preferred to stay in contact and are only available through smartphones.

GPS capability.

Having access to GPS is often handy for people from many walks of life, even beyond point-to-point direction assistance.

Camera quality.

One of the most sought after features for many smartphone users is a great camera. This is one of the areas that smartphones have a considerable advantage to feature phones. It has allowed many smartphone users to replace their digital camera altogether.

One device to handle your needs.

There was once a time when all cell phones were just another addition to the items we had to carry around in our day-to-day lives. Phone, wallet, keys, camera, MP3 player, and more. The invention of the smartphone has efficiently consolidated these items into one handheld device.

Lifeline Phone Conclusion

Hesitant about jumping into a smartphone purchase because you’re not sure you need all the features? Are you a senior and just want to make calls at an affordable price?

Then we recommend choosing a feature phone to stay connected with family and friends. If the time ever comes when you feel you’re ready to make the switch to a smartphone, we’ve got plenty to choose from.

Unlike most Lifeline providers, MobileNation has convenient retail locations in Tennessee and Kentucky. Just find a MobileNation location near you to find our more about Lifeline phones today.

Whether you opt for a feature or a smartphone, you’ll still get an awesome MobileNation Lifeline phone.

Why MobileNation’s Government Lifeline Benefit Offerings are Different

If you don’t know about MobileNation Lifeline, here’s how it works. Since 1985, the Lifeline program has provided a discount on phone service for qualifying low-income families.

Lifeline provides the opportunities and security that phone service brings to all Americans. That’s sort of the idea behind Lifeline.

With Lifeline, you have a subsidy on the phone service. The program itself does not provide phones.

There’s no need to bend over backward to apply for Lifeline. It isn’t difficult or time-consuming.

So when you’re ready, follow along, and see how easy it is to apply for Lifeline with MobileNation.

How to Get Started

There are three simple steps to applying for the Lifeline benefit. First, you must select a provider for your state. You can find providers in your state by using this map.

MobileNation is a Lifeline provider for Tennessee and Kentucky. You must reside within MobileNation’s coverage area based on your home address. You can check to see if coverage is available within your area by entering your zip code here.

The second thing you’ll need to do is to create an application. In a few short minutes, you can have your Lifeline application complete.

As part of the application, you’ll need to provide proof that you are eligible for the Lifeline benefit. All Lifeline service providers are required to verify eligibility of a consumer by verifying income or participation in a qualifying program.

Once you’ve finished the application, MobileNation will verify your identity and make sure your household is not already receiving a Lifeline Program benefit. By law, the Lifeline program is only available for one line per household.

So Why Choose MobileNation Lifeline?

First, let’s take a look at why MobileNation is so different in the first place.

Unlike most Lifeline providers, MobileNation has convenient retail locations in Tennessee and Kentucky. Just find a MobileNation location near you.

When it comes to contacting MobileNation, you can reach of one of three ways:

  1. Visit one of our convenient locations
  2. Apply or chat in online
  3. Call and actually talk to a person

And, if you want to have more than one discounted line, MobileNation offers a service called ClearAssist, which provides customers with discounted wireless phone service each month.

So for example, you could have one line for Lifeline cell phone service, another one for ClearAssist cell phone service, and another one for ClearAssist internet.

Unlike Lifeline, ClearAssist is not a government-funded assistance plan. Rather, MobileNation solely funds the discounts.

Try using MobileNation for just a week. You can at least give it a shot. Our guarantee proves that we think you will love it.

Conclusion

So applying is super simple, right? That’s what makes MobileNation Lifeline so great.

Whether you opt to apply online or in store, you’ll get an awesome experience with MobileNation.

I Still Use a Home Phone, and I’m Not Going to Stop. Here’s Why.

Phone technology has changed a lot over the last two decades. More and more people seem to be cutting out their home phone and going mobile.

There are some children who have never even had a home phone. It may be something they have only seen in the movies!

If you’re like the growing majority of Americans, you probably use your cellphone more than your landline. The 2016 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) reported that the number of American homes with only mobile phones continues to grow. Almost one-half of American homes (49.3%) now have only cell phones at home.

This statistic is up almost two percent from just the year before in 2015. Data showed that 50.2% of Kentucky households and 52.4% of Tennessee households have only cellphones.

But don’t be so quick to dismiss the benefits of having a home phone. Below are some reasons to have one, even in today’s mobile world.

Stay Connected

A home phone is a way to stay connected to family and friends far and wide. For this very reason, in 1985, the Lifeline government assistance program began.

Lifeline started out as a home phone program for lower income families. It provided a way to stay in touch with employers, schools and emergency personnel.

As part of the application for Lifeline, you’ll need to provide proof that you are eligible for the benefit. You can see the qualifiers here.

Also, home phones are affordable and still offer the benefit of reliable phone service. However, monthly phone costs can add up to a lot over time.

That is why it’s always a smart idea to see if MobileNation can save you money. We are a provider of Lifeline cell phones and home phone service. You can see our current plans here.

Kid Friendly

Have kids or grandchildren? If they need to make an emergency call, they know exactly where the home phone is located.

You don’t have to worry about if you left it in the kitchen, the bedroom or even in your car. And on that note, when the phone rings, you know where the phone is too.

Are your children young and need a way to communicate but you aren’t ready for them to have a cell phone? In that case, a home phone may be the way to go too.

Don’t forget that you don’t have to keep a home phone charged. Who doesn’t love low maintenance technology? Plus, you don’t have to worry about using up your minutes with unlimited nationwide calling.

Home Phone Features

So, why spend the $10 a month it takes to keep your home phone active if you qualify for Lifeline with MobileNation? With a home phone, you can make unlimited calls to any cell phone or landline.

Plus, MobileNation has all the features you expect for less. With it, you get reliable phone service with features like Caller ID 3-way calling and call waiting.

If you’re not already using a home phone, give it a try. You can apply for Lifeline by clicking here.

Unlike most Lifeline providers, MobileNation has retail locations in Tennessee and Kentucky. If you prefer to apply in person, just find a MobileNation location near you.
